Welcome to Washington!

The group arrived early into Washington's Dulles Airport this afternoon, a good start for our 5 days of exploring the Nation's Capital.
After meeting with our tour leader Declan, the group board our bus for the day with driver Mihail, & set off towards Downtown DC.
After passing the Air Force Memorial & the Pentagon en-route, our first stop was at the so-called Iwo Jima Memorial, officially titled the Marine Corps Memorial.
This was the first of many national memorials we saw or visited as we explored the area surrounding the National Mall, including the Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, & MLK Memorial.
We took time out for dinner at the hard Rock Cafe, then finished our first day with nighttime visits to the Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, & Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Finally, at the end of a long day, we checked-in to our DC hotel for a 4 night stay, ready for a good night's sleep ahead of a big day tomorrow...
